My final animation short film project is based on a story I once heard. A boy likes spending his time rescuing beached starfish by throwing them back into the water, until an old man points out that he can’t possibly save all of them, and thus his actions are pointless. The boy is conflicted, only to come to the conclusion that saving starfish brings him joy, and even one will do. The film consists of approximately 1000 frames, hand painted with acrylic on plexiglass. I based the techniques I used on the work of Aleksandr Petrov.
